Ruto, Raila, Gachagua, Babu Owino named among most talked about Africans of 2024

Five Kenyan politicians have been recognized in a list of 30 most talked about African personalities of 2024.

The list, curated by Top Charts Africa publication, “is a definitive ranking of the people who were the topics of conversation during the year, based on cumulative data from The Social Chart.”

“Using advanced social media tracking and Google Analytics, the list highlights the people who dominated online conversations from January 1 to November 3, 2024,” the publication added.

Among these included President William Ruto, who came second overall on the list of the most talked about Africans this year. He was beaten to the top spot only by Nigerian music superstar Wizkid.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is in the race for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson’s seat, came fifth while impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was ranked 12th.

Rounding up the list of Kenyans on the list were former President Uhuru Kenyatta at 14th place and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino who came 27th.

Among other notable personalities that made sparked conversation and made the cut this year include; Nigerian superstar Davido (3rd), billionaire Aliko Dangote (6th), as well as Equatorial Guinea’s former high-ranking official Baltasar Engonga who was fired after hundreds of videos showing him having sex with multiple women went viral.
