Ruto, Kindiki conclude Mt Kenya tour with pledge to deliver on development promises

On the final day of the tour, Saturday, the President led an extensive inspection of key projects in Nyeri Town and Othaya in Nyeri County, as well as Githunguri and Lari constituencies in Kiambu County.
The two leaders traversed all nine counties in the region, inspecting multi-billion-shilling infrastructure projects and launching several new initiatives expected to be completed within the next year.
On the final day of the tour, Saturday, the President led an extensive inspection of key projects in Nyeri Town and Othaya in Nyeri County, as well as Githunguri and Lari constituencies in Kiambu County.
"I will be back here many times until the work you have assigned me comes to fruition. We must ensure our people benefit from every project we are implementing in the region," President Ruto said during a public address in Nyeri.
In Nyeri, the President inspected the ongoing construction of Ruring’u Affordable Housing units and Ruring’u Stadium, and officially launched the Othaya Modern Market—one of ten new markets currently under construction in the county. In Kiambu, he opened a new Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institute, launched the Jitume ICT Lab, and inspected sections of the Mau Mau Road in Lari Constituency. He also inaugurated the Githunguri Market.
Emphasizing his commitment to service delivery over politics, President Ruto told residents, “You elected all of us to serve you. You will assess our performance in 2027, and I’ll be ready for that political test—because I am working to fulfill every promise I made.”
Throughout the tour, the President and Deputy President visited Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Embu, and Kirinyaga counties, reaffirming their dedication to inclusive development and addressing large crowds of enthusiastic residents.
The administration’s agenda for the region includes the completion of stalled road projects, acceleration of affordable housing, construction of modern markets to support small traders, better returns for coffee, tea, miraa, and dairy farmers, improved water supply, and expanded last-mile electricity connections.
Deputy President Kindiki vowed to closely monitor the implementation of the projects launched during the tour. “My duty is to work with Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and elected leaders to ensure these projects are completed on time—so the President returns to commission finished work,” he said.
He also echoed the administration’s focus on development over politics, drawing inspiration from former President Mwai Kibaki’s legacy. “Mzee Kibaki taught us to serve first and politic later. President Ruto has embraced that philosophy,” Kindiki noted during a stop in Othaya, Kibaki’s hometown.
