Diana Gichengo, the national coordinator of The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA) has called for a parallel impeachment motion against President William Ruto arguing that he has also violated the Constitution.

Speaking on the Citizen Daybreak show on Monday, Gichengo argued that Ruto and his cabinet have equally violated the law and should not be pardoned even as the Deputy President faces an impeachment motion on grounds of gross violating the constitution.

“The President has violated the constitution, where is his motion? People who were in cabinet before violated the constitution, they went before the same Parliament. You forgot the standards that you are now treating us to,” she said.

She encouraged Kenyans to keep fighting for what they deserve as a country; that is for those who grossly violate the constitution to vacate office immediately, regardless of their rank.

"Let us continue demanding what we deserve in our country which is anybody who continues to mock us with the gross violation of the constitution needs to vacate office at all levels," she noted.

DP Gachagua has been accused of violating articles 147, 148,174,186 and 189 of the constitution which touch on his conduct and responsibility as the principal assistant to the President. He has also been accused of corruptly acquiring assets across the country.

The impeachment motion was tabled in the National Assembly after 291 Members of Parliament appended their signatures in favor of ousting Gachagua.

A public participation was also held on Friday and Saturday as a section of vexed Kenyans also called for Ruto's removal together with Gachagua's, arguing that they have failed the nation with poor governance.

DP Gachagua will now be expected to defend himself both in parliament and at the courts this week when the House will consider his impeachment motion.

Meanwhile, he has asked President Ruto, MPs and Kenyans to forgive him for his wrongdoing.

"I want to say to my brother President William Ruto if, in our zeal to work, I have wronged you, please find it in your heart to forgive me. If my spouse, in her duties with the boychild, has wronged you in any way, please find it in your heart to forgive her," Gachagua pleaded speaking during a church service on Sunday.
