'Ruto has good ideas but they are ill-timed,' MP Patrick Makau says on Finance Bill
Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony of Athi River Secondary School in Mavoko Constituency, the legislator urged his colleagues from Ukambani to vote down the bill once tabled in the National Assembly to save Kenyans from economic catastrophe.
According to the MP who is affiliated with Azimio-One Kenya Coalition, the contents of the Finance Bill and President William Ruto’s ideas are good but the timing is bad since citizens are grappling with tough economic constraints.
“Mr President, you have beautiful ideas but this is the wrong time. You cannot force people to save and buy houses,” he said.
“If you ask these parents here, do you want a house or food on your table? They will say they want food on the table. Please give Kenyans time.”
He at the same time faulted the head of state with what he termed as attempting to bulldoze his way by pushing for the bill, urging him to listen to Kenyans' opinions,
“It is important for you to listen to Kenyans. Your ideas are good, but don’t force them on Kenyans,” Makau said.
