Ruto hails Aga Khan IV’s legacy, congratulates Prince Rahim on accession

In a statement issued by State House, President Ruto expressed the Government and People of Kenya's condolences, recognising the late Aga Khan IV's profound leadership and contributions to global development.

“I conveyed the condolences of the government and the people of Kenya following the passing of his father, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV,” said President Ruto.

The late Aga Khan IV, the Shia Ismaili Muslim community's 49th Imam, was a revered spiritual leader who advocated for development, education, and cultural preservation. 

His legacy in Kenya includes significant investments in education, healthcare, and economic development via the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

During their conversation, President Ruto also congratulated Prince Rahim Aga Khan on becoming the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili community. 

He expressed confidence in Prince Rahim’s leadership and reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening its long-standing collaboration with the Aga Khan institutions.

“I congratulated him on his accession as the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Community and pledged to continue working together in the areas of education, health, and environmental sustainability, among others,” President Ruto stated.
