Ruto: Government to construct 20,000 affordable houses in Bungoma

President William Ruto has said that the government is committed to constructing 20,000 houses in Bungoma County as part of the affordable housing plan.

The head of state said the project will also offer employment opportunities to about 40,000 youths in Bungoma.

“As we are dealing with the program of affordable housing, we want to commit to constructing 20,000 affordable houses in Bungoma, those 20,000 houses will require approximately 30,000 to 40,000 youths to work on the project here,” Ruto said.

Ruto further promised the residents that every ward will have ICT hubs to improve access to the internet and consequently provision of digital jobs.

He further vowed to eliminate cartels sabotaging local farmers through extortion.

He also touched on the issue of market infrastructure when he elaborated that the government will construct an additional 10 markets in Bungoma to facilitate trade.

To ease trade, Ruto also promised to construct and complete the construction of the roads in Bungoma.
