President William Ruto has hit back atcritics of his numerous foreign trips, saying he is the country's chief ambassador.

In a church service in Eldoret on Sunday, the president said his trips abroad are for the benefit of Kenyans, and that is what he was elected to do.

He said that he is traveling outside the country to look for job opportunities for Kenyans and to unlock investment avenues for the country.

"There are those who say I am flying out a lot, but they forget I'm the country's chief ambassador and I have to look for job opportunities for Kenyans," Ruto said.

On his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, the president said he managed to create job opportunities for 350,000 Kenyans as Saudis want their services because they are the best.

Ruto further revealed that he will be going back to Riyadh in the next three weeks to unlock more investment and employment opportunities.

"When I was recently in China, President Xi Jinping welcomed us and said China will help Kenya. He made my work there easier," Ruto said.

The president has made tens of trips abroad since assuming office in August 2022, something that has attracted criticism from the opposition and a section of Kenyans.

However, his team has supported the trips, saying they are for the benefit of the country.
