Ruto changes Twitter bio after he's declared President-elect

President-elect William Ruto receives a nomination certificate from IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya on August 15, 2022.
President-elect William Ruto on Monday wasted no time in letting Kenyans and the rest of the world know that he is primed to succeed outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.
As soon as he was declared winner of the August 9th presidential election, Ruto was quick to change his official Twitter bio to read 'president-elect, Republic of Kenya'. It formerly read 'deputy president of Kenya', a position that will now be filled by deputy president-elect Rigathi Gachagua.
At the same time, Ruto took time to thank the higher power, which he says delivered him the presidency, going as far as citing two bible verses from the books of Isaiah and Jeremiah.
“For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future," tweeted Ruto.
"In that day you will say: “Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted."
According to IEBC, Ruto fulfilled the constitutional requirements after garnering 7,176,141 votes, representing 50.49 per cent of the total votes cast and he achieved the minimum number of 39 counties at 25 per cent.
His main rival Raila Odinga of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition party got 6,942,930 votes representing 48 percent of the votes cast.
