Ruko Conservancy gazetted as a disturbed zone over bandit regroupings

This is after an intelligence report indicated that bandits and herders who had initially been dispersed are regrouping in the area.

This, according to the CS, this will reduce cattle rustling and banditry within Baringo South, an area that has been battling run-away security for a long time as communities living in the region have been severally invaded by neighbouring community, displacing them, causing deaths and stealing their livestock.

He further ordered the re-opening of schools that were closed as others are still re-built after they were destroyed by bandits. The schools include Rugus, Bartalo, Ng’elecha and Ramacha.

Kindiki visited Baringo on Monday to monitor the ongoing operation to flush out bandits who hide in caves and hills. 

He warned the bandits that the operations are on and that the zones gazetted as disturbed still remain in the jurisdictions of security agencies. 

He visited residents who had resettled in March after they were flushed out by the bandits and are going on with farming in Sinoni.

His visit came after an attempted banditry attack in Kiserian on Sunday, where police reserves were able to repulse them.
