Robert Alai vows to shut down Kileleshwa clubs in residential areas

Kileleshwa MCA-elect Robert Alai.

Kileleshwa MCA-elect Robert Alai has put a number of clubs on notice for causing noise pollution in areas that are designated for residential homes.

The MCA-elect named five clubs, saying that the noise emanating from them traumatises children when doing their homework.

“After swearing in, we have a list which must be acted on ASAP. It’s Kileleshwa. They must go. Clubs like Numero 5, Samaki Samaki, The Bar Next Door, Hera Aqua Gardens and Kettle House should all move to the CBD,” Alai wrote in a tweet on Sunday evening.

He said the clubs have become a nuisance to the residents, alleging that they are operating without the required approvals.

“None of these clubs even have approvals from relevant authorities. They have become a den in the middle of residential areas,” he added.

Alai’s notice followed a complaint from a resident of Kileleshwa, who pointed out a club that he alleged was causing noise pollution to a nearby hospital.

“My MCA, we have a club adjacent Gertrudes Children Hospital Lavington along Othaya road that has been a menace to the Hospital and the neighboring estates. I don’t know if it falls on Kileleshwa ward or Kilimani ward but it need serious addressing mhesh,” the resident told Alai.

In his campaign manifesto, the MCA –elect  promised Kileleshwa residents that he would return sanity to their estates and ensure there are safe grounds for children to play in.

Additionally, he pledged to designate walkways for pedestrians in Kileleshwa.

He had also promised to prioritise Education and ICT, health and agriculture, arts, sports, and the creative economy, infrastructure and security.
