Born Mohamed Nassir Salim, Risan Romeo has taken the stage to showcase Nubian culture through music.
Transcending borders, Romeo’s music has reached vast audiences in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Egypt, Ghana, South Africa, and beyond.
Through art, Romeo showcases Nubian culture and heritage and has become a source of pride for the Nubian community.
Risan's journey to stardom began in the coastal town of Mombasa, where he grew up. His multicultural background, with a Nubian mother and Indian father, has influenced his music, blending traditional Nubian melodies with contemporary rhythms. With hits like "Abuya" and "Ya Ibe," Risan has become synonymous with Nubian and Arab celebrations.
He recently headlined a show at the Carrefour Kenya 9th Anniversary celebration at The Junction Mall. With Nubian dancers in traditional attire, Romeo got fans on their feet, dancing to the beat of his songs.
With a debut album, "Nubians to the World," on the horizon, Romeo is on a mission to take the world stage.
The 12-track is a celebration of Nubian culture, blended with Swahili influences.
