Rift Valley RC Natembeya resigns, to vie for Trans Nzoia governor in 2022

George Natembeya addresses journalists in Nakuru on January 12, 2022, when he announced his resignation as Rift Valley Regional Commissioner.

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has resigned.

The straight-talking commissioner, in a press conference on Wednesday, thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for his support during his tenure.

Rais amekuwa wa karibu sana, kama ofisa wa nyanjani ukipata hiyo support ni ya umuhimu,” said Natembeya.

He also acknowledged other security leaders among them Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, Police Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai, and Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.

Natembeya announced that he will be venturing into politics and officially declared his bid for the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat in the August polls.

With a career in public service spanning over two decades, Natembeya expressed confidence that his experience would give him an upper hand in politics.

He will be in the race for Trans Nzoia’s top seat which has so far attracted over five contestants, among them the county Woman Representative Janet Nangabo.
