Kenyan man stabs 8 people in India

A Kenyan national
is being held by police in India after indiscriminately stabbing eight people
in a fit of rage on Wednesday.
John Menty
reportedly used a knife to carry out the attacks in South Mumbai’s Parsi Bawdi
area which is just a stone’s throw away from Bombay High Court.
He likewise
attempted to attack police officers who arrived at the scene but was easily
subdued.
“He attacked eight
persons and subsequently the locals present there informed the police control
room, after which a team went to the spot to take control of the situation,” an
officer told the media.
“The reason behind
the attack is still unknown. We have detained him and questioning is on.”
Prior to the
incident, the suspect allegedly got into a verbal altercation with a female
friend with police opining that the incident could have triggered the
subsequent attacks.
Detectives are also
investigating whether the suspect was under the influence of drugs when he
carried out the attacks.
All eight victims
were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment with seven of them likely to be
discharged immediately.
“Only one person
out of the eight has sustained serious injuries on his neck. The rest will be
discharged,” said the officer.
Menty was likewise
admitted to a hospital after sustaining injuries to his hand.
Detectives have
since retrieved CCTV footage of the brazen attacks to help in investigations.
Menty will likely be charged with eight counts of attempted murder.
