The camp, which is being held for the second time since its inception, provided much-needed free medical services to the large crowds that turned up.
This included screening for diabetes, HIV, cervical cancer, and sickle cell as well as laboratory services, eye and dental services, and specialized physician consultations, among a host of other medical offerings.
The camp, which kicked off at 6 AM, registered over 2,000 people who came from as far as Bondo, Ugenya and even the Busia border.
Ramogi FM and Ramogi TV, Royal Media Services’ Nyanza-based top media stations, publicized the medical camp in the run-up to the medical camp and were on location to engage their audiences.
Pre-event publicity also aired on Radio Citizen. The brands were represented on the ground at the camp by Doris Okumu (Adori) of Ramogi Radio and Collins Okello (DJ Collo) of Ramogi TV. Ramogi TV Editorial team also covered the event as part of the day’s news roundup.
Connie Aluoch, part of the organizing team, remarked that the camp had witnessed larger numbers than initially anticipated, which they attributed to having a media partner in the Ramogi brands. As the coordination team behind the event, they seek to improve further for future activities.
Some other key sponsors for the camp included Nescafe, ABSA, Jubilee Insurance, various pharmaceutical companies and hospitals.
