In the face of spirited opposition
for the broad-based government, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chief
Raila Odinga has come to the defence of the President William Ruto
administration, terming it a partnership to save Kenyans from pre-independence
problems.
Addressing residents of Homa Bay town
on Friday, Odinga heaped praise on the government, which he said is now serving
what he had hoped for when he took a stab at the presidency in 2022.
mzuri nataka hawa wananchi wetu waunge hawa mkono,” he said.
President Ruto, on his
kisirani hawatapta nafasi ili Kenya iweze kuenda mbele.”
Leaders
allied to the government also joined the bandwagon, saying ODM zones that were
ostracised in previous governments have been getting a taste of the national
cake of late.

President
Ruto also promised to resolve the insecurity in Lake Victoria that has seen
Kenyan fishermen harassed by foreign authorities due to a long-standing
boundary dispute in the lake.
“I sent Joho to engage his colleagues in
Uganda and Tanzania there is currently a conversation ongoing so that we can
have a uniform license for all our fishermen to avoid this country arresting
the other country to avoid what is going on at the moment,”
Other
projects that were launched include an ultra-modern fish market in Homa Bay
Town, the Homa Bay pier, as well as the Homa Bay affordable housing project.
