Raila reveals Ruto's plea for ODM support amid cabinet struggles

ODM leader Raila Odinga has defended his troops that crossed over to serve in President Ruto's broad-based cabinet.

He was speaking in Kibra on Monday when he donated 1000 iron sheets and Ksh.1,500,000 to the victims of the Toi Market fire, which killed four people and caused millions in property damage.

Raila, who pointed an accusing finger at land grabbers, claimed that several shadowy figures colluded with lands ministry officials to seize land in the area.

He stated that he has directed Governor Sakaja to begin construction of a fence around the market to keep potential grabbers out.

"Leo nimetoa amri kwa gavana kumwambia ujenzi wa ua ianze mara moja kwa sababu wako na bajeti ya shilingi milioni 100 ya kujenga hii soko," he said.

"Hii ni kuhakikisha hao majamaa hawapenyi hapa."

During his address, Raila also touched on recent cabinet intrigues, telling his supporters that President Ruto went to seek help from him after his cabinet failed to deliver on its mandate.

"Sasa mnaona jamaa walikuwa wameshindwa na kazi, akafuta baraza la mawaziri akaja kwetu kuomba tuwapatie watu," Raila said.

"Wakaja wanapiga magoti chini, wakasema tuwapatie watu."

According to Raila, the experts recruited by Ruto from the ODM ranks are a much-needed boost to Ruto's troubled ship and will assist the administration in turning things around.

"Nimewapea wataalam utaaona sasa mambo inabadilika," Raila said.

Raila was accompanied by Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna and area MP Peter Orero.

In the second batch of CS nominees, Nominated MP John Mbadi is set to take over the Treasury ministry, Ugunja MP James Opiyo Wandayi will assume the Energy docket.

Former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho will head the Mining and Blue Economy ministry, while former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya will take charge of the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development.
