Raila jets back ahead of Azimio rally in Kamukunji
The opposition leader was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Tuesday at around 2:00 pm by a number of leaders allied to the Azimio coalition among them National Assembly Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi.
Raila is then expected to proceed to the Kamukunji grounds where he is expected to chart a way forward following the Wednesday passing of the controversial Finance Bill, 2023 by Parliament.
Speaking briefly before the Azimio boss landed, Wandayi said they expect Raila to leave no stone unturned during his address, which he believes will push the government to revise its approach.
"As you know currently the country is in a state of panic following the forceful enactment of the Finance Act. Kenyans are expecting that Raila will give the way forward. We believe that he will first listen to the people and give resolutions which I believe will have fire-reaching ramifications," Wandayi said.
"He is going to be briefed on the happenings while he was away and thereafter he is going to join the rest of the Azimio leadership and the rest of Kenyans in forging a way forward in crafting a way to address these issues which have been imposed on Kenyans by this intransigent regime," he added.
The opposition has been training its guns on the Kenya Kwanza regime over the Finance Bill, in what they say is a decision to ignore the wishes of Kenyans.
