Raila in one-week visit to UK for 'business, rest and relaxation'
According to Raila's spokesperson, Denis Onyango, the ODM leader will meet friends, family members and business associates during the visit.
"He will also use his stay in the UK to rest and relax, which he doesn’t do enough back at home," he said.
Raila is expected back in Nairobi at the end of next week.
Before his departure, Raila had attended the Devolution Conference and delivered a speech which took a swipe at the US ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, following her remarks that the 2022 General Election was the most credible in the country's history.
He chastised Whitman for what he intimated to be meddling in Kenya’s affairs, further threatening that if she continues to comment on Kenyan issues, then the opposition political faction may be forced to petition the US government to recall her.
“I want to tell the rogue ambassador, leave Kenyans alone. If maandamano can lead to dialogue between Ichung’wah and Kalonzo, everything is good with maandamano,” Odinga stated.
“Tell the rogue Ambassador Kenya is not the United States and it is not a colony of the United States; keep your mouth shut while here, otherwise, we will call for your recall back to your country.”
Following the Azimio Chief's remarks Kenya Kwanza leaders including President William Ruto, his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Speaker Moses Wetangula have come out to defend the US envoy at the same time slamming Odinga for what they say is attempting to sabotage economic relations with America.
