Raila denies claims that his bodyguard has been released
This follows a report stating that Ogeta was released on Wednesday evening, which Raila termed as fake and still demanded Ogeta's release.
Narrating the alleged abduction, ODM's director of communications Philip Etale said that Ogeta was accosted by unknown assailants suspected to be police officers on his way to work from home who flagged him down and then bundled him in his car's boot.
After a few minutes drive, Etale claims, the car stalled and the assailants had to force Ogeta out of the boot to help them restart it.
"After driving for a few minutes, the vehicle stalled and they got him out of the boot to show them how to restart it before returning him to the boot and sped off to an unknown destination," said Etale.
The Azimio coalition, through a statement from its co-principal Martha Karua on Wednesday, likewise demanded Ogeta's release terming it as malicious and unlawful.
“We condemn in the strongest terms possible the arrests and or abductions of Azimio leaders and close associates without any colour of right or the slightest justification,” she said.
Other Azimio affiliates detained and arrested include Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga, Kilifi County Speaker Teddy Mwambire, MCASs Wilfred Odallo and Redson Ochongo as well as two Budget Officers at the Nairobi County Assembly namely; Erick Otieno and Anthony Otsula.
The arrests are said to have been in connection to the ongoing anti-government protests.
