Rachel Ruto celebrates Muslim women for their role during Ramadan
While hosting Muslim women for Iftar, a fast-breaking meal, in State House on Saturday, Mama Rachel stated they are important pillars in their families as they "preserve the sanctity of the family."
"The First Lady celebrated the role of women as a critical pillar in the family, and even during this month, women are at the centre of breaking fast and hosting Iftar, which brings families together," read a statement on Twitter.
The First Lady further noted that women are the backbone of a family and communities, urging them to continue safeguarding their loved ones and encourage social change.
"...We agreed as mothers to fight for family, especially during modern times when family and children are under attack," she said.
She further urged the ladies to be living examples of their faith and to be agents of social change in their families and communities.
The Ramadan period commenced on March 21 and will end on April 22, 2023.
With 14-15 hours of daily fasting, Muslims are expected to break their fast at sundown each evening.
