Queen Máxima of the Netherlands lauds gains made on providing digital loans to SMEs in health sector
In her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate (UNSGSA) for Inclusive Finance for Development, Queen Máxima visited ZamZam Medical Services in Ngong to see how they have benefited from the Medical Credit Fund (MCF).
MCF is a non-profit fund dedicated solely to funding small and medium-sized health enterprises (SMEs) in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Queen Máxima stated that MCF understands and addresses the needs of their clients, as it has allowed facilities to grow by gaining access to new equipment and improving working capital.
"Through MCF Cash Advance health facilities like ZamZam can provide better quality services to their parents and their families. For which there is a clear need," reads a statement from MCF.
Esther Muthoni, the owner of ZamZam Medical Services, says she has benefited greatly from MCF and would have closed her business if she had not been introduced to the fund.
The Medical Credit Fund (a division of PharmAccess) launched MCF Cash Advance, a digital loan product, in 2016. The product enables quick and flexible financing.
Queen Máxima's three-day visit to Kenya is focused on improving the quality of digital financial services, as well as promoting financial health and inclusive green finance.
Upon her arrival on Monday, she started her tour in Kisumu and later held talks with President William Ruto, among other government officials.
Queen Máxima has travelled the world as a Special Advocate to promote universal access to financial services and financial health.
