PSC exposes fraudster offering fake government internship placements

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has drawn attention to the actions of an individual fraudulently presenting himself as an official of the agency and falsely offering placements in the Public Service Internship Program (PSIP).

In a statement on Wednesday, the PSC denounced the alleged fraudster, Joseph Tabut, who it said is using the phone number 0725 918218 to reach out to, entice and dupe applicants.

"It has come to our attention that an individual named Joseph Tabut (0725 918218) is reportedly contacting applicants of the Public Service Internship Program (PS1P), claiming to offer favourable placements within the internship program," said PSC.

"Please be advised that there is no employee by that name associated with the Public Service Commission. Mr. Tabut might be a fraudster and should be ignored and treated as such."

Further, PSC assured all applicants that it does not engage in or condone any form of bribery, favouritism, or illicit practices when offering internships or employment opportunities.

"Notably, the Public Service Commission does not take bribes or exercise favour in offering services, internships or job opportunities," said PSC.

Further, PSC urged applicants to report any suspicious behaviour or individuals claiming to offer PSIP placements, particularly those asking for payments or other forms of compensation.

"We urge all Kenyans to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DC1) or confirm the authenticity of any PSIP-related information via PSC Call Centre +254 20 4865000 or Social Media Platforms," said the agency.
