Probe after security guard mauled to death by dogs in Bondo

Stephen Lilungo, a home guard, was reportedly mauled to death and his body eaten by his employer's dogs late last week.

According to Bondo sub-county Criminal Investigations Officer Mr. Reuben Onchoka, the deceased, who worked for Ken Were Miseda, was also responsible for the dogs' care.    

He stated that after receiving information from Were Miseda's neighbours, police officers went to the scene and only found a skeleton believed to belong to the deceased Stephen Lilungo.

Mr. Onchoka stated that the police have already summoned the owner of that home, Ken Were Miseda, who works as a Veterinary Officer, to  record a statement on the matter.

Mr. Stephen Aluoch, Assistant Chief of the Ajigo Sub-location, stated that Lilungo, a Kakamega resident, was recently hired to care for the dogs at the home of Were Miseda, a hybrid dog trader.

He revealed that the incident was discovered Saturday evening when Mr Were Miseda, who was still in Eldoret, sent a friend to check on his home guard (the late Lilungo) after he (Were) had been unable to reach him by the phone since Thursday last week.

Mr. Aluoch stated that the friend was scared when he discovered the dogs running up and down the compound and the home guard missing.

He stated that this was reported to him before he alerted officers from the Lwala Kotiende police station, who arrived and searched the house, only to discover a skeleton believed to belong to Lilungo.

The deceased's remains have since been transferred to the Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary, as investigations into the case continue.
