Prime suspect in gruesome Eastleigh murder identified
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) released the image of Hashim Dagane Muhumed, 24, who is believed to have been driving the car that was used to abduct the murder victims on October 21.
CCTV footage shows the car, a Nissan Note, picking the victims from their home in Eastleigh hours before their bodies were found in different locations.
The vehicle was found abandoned at Wakulima Market near the ENA Coach stage and towed to DCI Headquarters for forensic examination.
DCI has now appealed to members of the public to provide any information that could assist in the arrest of Hashim Muhumed as they hold one suspect in custody.
Meanwhile, police revisited several crime scenes on a fact-finding mission as the burial of the three victims took place at Lang'ata Cemetery.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect refueled the vehicle at the station after disposing of a body within Machakos County.
Among those questioned is an accomplice who was in contact with the main suspect on the night of the killings. The two also shared a rented house in Eastleigh.
Another individual who has provided a statement is the landlord, who allegedly rented the house to the suspect without official documentation.
Additionally, police have arrested two people from Nairobi’s CBD who sold the suspect a mobile phone worth Ksh.23,000. The suspect left a mobile number belonging to a woman at the shop.
Detectives also expanded their investigation to Bahati in Buruburu, where they collected additional evidence.
