However, before they can receive the benefits, they must go through a vetting process by a parliamentary committee.
If approved by the National Assembly, the CSs will be entitled to a monthly salary of Ksh.924,000.
According to a recent Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) gazette notice, a CS is eligible for a basic salary of Ksh 554,400, a house allowance of Ksh.200,000, and a market adjustment of Ksh.169,600, for a total gross salary of Ksh.924,000.
Cabinet Secretaries will also receive an official state car with a maximum engine capacity of 3000cc.
They will also receive Medical Benefits, which include an annual medical cover for one spouse and up to four children under the age of twenty-five who are fully dependent on the state officer.
The benefits are as follows: Inpatient Ksh 10 million, Outpatient Ksh.300,000, Maternity Ksh.150,000, Dental Ksh.75,000, and Optical Ksh.75,000.
State officers will also be eligible for a Ksh.10 million car loan and a Ksh.40 million mortgage.
A daily subsistence allowance for domestic and international travel shall be paid to State officers in accordance with the rates reviewed and set by SRC from time to time.
They will also receive a monthly Airtime benefit of up to Ksh.20,000.
A security team shall be provided as advised by the Inspector-General of Police and shall not be convertible to cash.
According to Kenya's constitution, Cabinet Secretaries are primarily responsible for leading and managing ministries. They are all answerable to the president and must provide regular reports on their ministries to the parliament.
