President Ruto treats Toi Primary School pupils to chapati meal

Pupils at Toi Primary School were Thursday treated to a meal of Chapati courtesy of President William Ruto and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja during their development tour of the area.

Ruto and Sakaja personally served the freshly made flatbreads to delighted learners of Toi and Ayany Primary Schools.

In his address in the area, President Ruto reiterated his government’s support for county-led initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens, stating: “Investing in school feeding programs is investing in our future.”

Governor Sakaja echoed the President's remarks, emphasizing that: “No child should have to sit in class on an empty stomach."

"This program is about dignity, nutrition, and giving our children the energy to focus on their studies,” said Ruto.

The introduction of chapati into the Dishi Na County school feeding program follows Governor Sakaja’s request for a chapati-making machine, which President Ruto pledged to fund during his recent development tour in Mathare.

“The governor has asked for a machine to incorporate chapatis into the Dishi na County menu. I will provide one that makes a million chapatis ,” Ruto confirmed.

The Dishi na County school feeding program currently benefits over 316,000 learners across 230 schools in Nairobi’s 17 sub-counties.
