President Ruto to launch multi-million Luanda Modern Market construction in Vihiga

This project is part of the Kenya Kwanza Government's ongoing efforts to establish decent, safe, and secure trading environments across the country.

The Luanda Modern Market will serve an estimated 1,000 traders on regular days and up to 2,000 during market days. It is one of over 400 markets planned for construction nationwide, aiming to provide fresh produce farmers and vendors with modern technologies to reduce post-harvest storage losses.

Once completed, the market will feature essential facilities such as a cold storage unit, an ICT hub, a food court, and vital utilities like water, electricity, sanitation, and garbage collection centers. These improvements are expected to enhance the working conditions for traders, allowing them to operate in a dignified environment.

The budget for the construction of Luanda Modern Market is Ksh.365,770,308.12.

Luanda Modern Market shall provide farmers with a larger pool of traders, as well as access to cold rooms and other storage facilities to store their farm produce for longer. This shall enable them to achieve fair prices for their produce.
