President Ruto nominates Andrew Musangi as Central Bank Chairperson

President William Ruto has nominated Andrew Mukite Musangi as Chairperson of the Central Bank of Kenya. Mukite's name has also been forwarded to Parliament for vetting.

Musangi’s nomination was announced on Thursday by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula in a communication to the House.

“Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order number 42, I wish to convey a message from His Excellency the President regarding nomination of a person for appointment as the Director of Public Prosecutions. In the message, His Excellency the President nominates Andrew Mukite Musangi for appointment as Chairperson of the Board of the Central Bank of Kenya,” reads the message from the President.

Mr Musangi will undergo vetting by the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning jointly of the National Assembly jointly sitting with Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget.

Musangi, who is a non-executive director at Centum Investment Company Limited, is the son-in-law of the late billionaire businessman Chris Kirubi.

The President picked Musangi from a list of six candidates shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
