President William Samoei Ruto, through Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, has appointed new technocrats to key state parastatals in a strategic move aimed at revitalizing Kenya’s energy sector.
Dr. Charles O. Owino has been appointed to the Board of
Directors at the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation
(REREC).
A respected economist and academic, Dr. Owino is expected to
bring fresh insight and strong governance to the agency tasked with expanding
rural electrification and promoting renewable energy solutions.
At the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited, Christopher Odhiambo
Karani joins the board. His appointment comes at a time when the company is
focused on strengthening pipeline integrity and expanding oil distribution
infrastructure to support growing national demand.
Sally Akinyi Omotto has been appointed to the Board of the
National Oil Corporation of Kenya. Her addition is expected to bolster
leadership as the Corporation works to streamline operations and enhance energy
security in the country.
These appointments are a clear indication of President
Ruto’s resolve to professionalize state corporations and deliver results under
the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The newly appointed board members are expected to bring
renewed energy, accountability, and innovation to their roles, strengthening
Kenya’s energy institutions for a more sustainable and efficient future.
