President Ruto honours Chebukati, Dorcas Rigathi, 11 Governors with State commendations
President William Ruto conferred over 400 citizens with various State honours during the 59th Jamhuri Day celebrations at
Nyayo Stadium on Monday.
These included Deputy President Rigathi
Gachagua and his spouse Dorcas Gachagua, as well as military personnel, members
of the Judiciary and civilians who received awards of orders, medals and
decorations.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries
Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati and at least 11 governors received
the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH).
The governors include Stephen Sang (Nandi), Muthomi
Njuki (Tharaka Nithi), Mutahi Kahiga (Nyeri), Simon Kachapin (West Pokot), Benjamin
Cheboi (Baringo), Nathif Jama (Garissa), Wilbur Otichillo (Vihiga), Dr Julius Malombe
(Kitui), Hilary Barchok (Bomet), Joshua Irungu (Laikipia) and Lamu’s Issa
Timamy.
Recipients of the Elder of the Order of the
Burning Spear included IEBC commissioners Prof. Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu.
Others were Court of Appeal Judge Aggrey Muchelule, Musalia Mudavadi’s long-serving Communications Director Kibisu
Kabatesi and Ambassadors Manoah Esipisu and Mwende Mwinzi.
IEBC CEO Marjan Hussein Marjan was awarded
the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear.
