President Ruto awards charter to Riara University

President William Ruto on Wednesday awarded a charter to Riara
University, upgrading it to a fully accredited higher learning institution.
Speaking at State House on Wednesday, President Ruto lauded
the institution for its commitment to improving the quality of high-education
by strengthening the university sector's capacity.
He also lauded the Riara Group founders, Daniel Gachukia and
Prof. Eddah Gachukia, for their exemplary impact and legacy which he
confidently noted will leave an indelible mark in the education sector.
"Their work over the past 50 years has positively shaped
the landscape of Kenya, teaching and learning, touching thousands of lives and
positively affecting the destinies of many," noted Ruto.
President Ruto also awarded the two founders with Elder of the
Order of the Burning Spear (EBS).
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos added that Riara
University is now poised to further its mission of empowering lives and
impacting communities
"This new status will enable the institution to expand
its programmes, enhance its research capabilities and continue to produce
graduates who are ready to meet the challenges of our dynamic world," he
noted.
A university charter is the highest level of certification for
universities in Kenya.
Riara achieved the esteemed status under the guidance of the
Commission for University Education (CUE).
