President Kenyatta’s Christmas message to Kenyans

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a Christmas message to the nation reminding Kenyans that it is time for reconciliation, love and compassion.

In a statement to newsrooms, the Head of State said: “As Christians, we believe that on this day, God sent His son for our salvation.”

He said that the message is not for Christians only, saying: “Many who are not Christians also celebrate with us the message of hope and reconciliation that Christmas brings”.

President Kenyatta asked Kenyans to reconcile and to recommit themselves to healing and uplifting of this nation.

He added that it is a good moment to ask whether we have been worthy of this great gift.

According to the President, as Kenyans, if we look deep into our hearts, we will accept that we have not always maintained the highest standards this year.

“If we look deep into our hearts, we will see that we could have been better fathers, better mothers, better sons and daughters and better Kenyans.”

He also asked Kenyans to take the greatest care on the roads as they travel to meet their family and friends this Christmas.

“My Government will do all it that it can to enforce the rules of the road, so that we can all celebrate in safety with those we love.”

The President also reminded Kenyans that in the New Year  we will choose our leaders. He has asked every Kenyan to vote saying it is their right for which our fathers fought for and has said that we should honor their memory by exercising these rights in a spirit of grace and peace.

“May God bless you, and your families and loved ones, in the New Year and many God guide the Republic and all its leaders in 2017,” he said.
