Power supply restored to JKIA - Kenya Power
Kenya Power has successfully restored power supply to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport following a nationwide blackout on Friday attributed to a "general system disturbance."
In
a statement on (JKIA) Saturday, the electricity distributor also highlighted that power
provision had been reinstated in other vital zones across Nairobi.
"We
have successfully restored power supply to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
and other critical areas within the Nairobi Metropolitan," the statement
reads in part.
"Our
teams are working to restore electricity to all areas across the country that
were affected by the outage. We apologise to our customers for the
inconvenience caused and we thank them for their patience."
Transport Cabinet Secretary
Kipchumba Murkomen, who is currently at JKIA, on Friday issued a public apology
following the power outage at the airport.
"I
am really sorry for what has happened at JKIA with the blackout. There is no
excuse worth reporting and there is no reason why our airport is in
darkness," he said in a Twitter statement.
"I will be announcing the decision we will make tomorrow (Saturday) 9am at JKIA after a meeting with the leadership of the airport. Once again I am sorry."
