Power supply restored after nationwide outage: Kenya Power
Kenya Power says it has restored electricity supply after a major outage that rocked most of the country early
Wednesday morning.
The utility company confirmed the outage in
a 1:28 a.m. notice, saying most of Kenya was in darkness except pockets of
Western and Rift Valley regions.
In a subsequent notice about six hours
later, the company said it had restored supply to all the affected areas.
“We are pleased to report that power supply
has been restored to all the affected areas following a widespread outage. We
thank our customers for their patience during the restoration exercise,” the
company said at 7:35 a.m.
Kenya Power supplies power to more than 9.6
million customers in Kenya, according to its website.
Wednesday’s outage, which also reduced internet connectivity across the country, is the latest in a series of recurring blackouts Kenya has faced over the past year.
