Postal Corporation accuses Kiambu MCA Koina of intimidation in land row

Postmaster General John Tunoi accused the MCA of interfering with Posta’s property in question including bailing out construction workers arrested by Kiambu based police officers after they were found illegally occupying the disputed property.
Tunoi, in a separate letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja wants police intervention to ensure security and safety of Posta staff members, the premises and prevent unlawful occupation by the supposed grabbers.
In the demand letter, Posta says the MCA, in the company of a “group of individuals stormed the property and threatened PCK staff causing unlawful stoppage of ongoing works.”
Barely two weeks ago, police in Kiambu descended on illegal developers and arrested scores of workers in the contested land that the postal corporation says has been grabbed and is in tussle with the Kiambu county government.
Koina in his response has dismissed storming the premises and threatening Posta staff terming the claims as being without evidence.
Through his lawyers, the county legislator has denied bailing out persons arrested on the contested piece saying his presence at the police station was a fact finding mission on what was happening in his ward.
Postmaster General Tonui has invited the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to initiate abuse of office investigation against Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi and his Chief Officer for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Daniel Njenga.
Tonui says EACC should investigate the shadowy individuals overseeing the construction of the kiosks on Posta’s land despite there being court order issued in 2018 barring interference.
In her ruling Lady Justice L. Gacheru directed the county government to remove a bus stage from the Post Office property.
