Police waiting for orders from above to produce Pauline Njoroge in court, Lawyer says
According to Pauline’s lawyers led by Ndegwa Njiru, their inquiries at the Watamu police station hit a dead end as the officer in charge of the station told them that they had strict instructions not to produce them in any court until they get orders from above.
"We are aware that there were other arrested persons from the same station in Watamu who have been produced in court. But our clients are still being held in police cells.
" We have been told that there are orders from above that are yet to be taken, we do not know which above is this. The OCS is still not able to make a decision on who should authorise that Pauline be produced in court," Njiru said.
Njiru added that there are no registration records at the Malindi Law Courts to indicate that the trio will be produced in court.
The team, which also includes lawyers Suleiman Lempaa and Sophia Rajab are having a difficult time trying to have their clients produced in court.
Pauline Njoki Njoroge, Jane Mwangi Nduta and Emanze Jilani were arrested after the car they were travelling in was intercepted by detectives along the Watamu- Jakaranda road on Friday.
They were allegedly found in possession of narcotics drugs upon search of the car and their hotel rooms.
Family members of Jilani have appealed to the police to release their kin since he is just a driver who was carrying out his duties.
Jubilee leaders led by Deputy Chairperson Beatrice Gambo also pitched tent at the Watamu police station seeking for the release of the three.
