A middle-aged woman
succumbed to injuries while her son is recuperating at the Nakuru Provincial
General Hospital (PGH) after a police land cruiser allegedly hit their
motorbike from behind.
Addressing the media, Atanus
Kihungi Njage, the deceased’s husband, said his son was accompanying her mother
to check on their relative at the hospital before the Naishi Police Station
land cruiser rammed them.
“I am very pained to lose my
wife due to the reckless actions of the officers who should have been keen
enough to avoid the accident. They hit my family members and threw them off,”
he said.
He further said that, after
knocking the two, the officers picked then picked them up and drove them all
the way to the Nakuru PGH using the dry weather roads instead of rushing them
to the nearby Njoro sub-county hospital for first aid management.
Dr Munyiri Kaniaru, who is in
charge of the emergency room at Nakuru PGH, said that the deceased lost a lot
of blood after the accident and had several fractures.
Njoro OCPD Isaac Odumbe
confirmed the incident and said that investigations have since commenced into
the incident to enable appropriate action.
