Police summon MP Gathoni Wamuchomba over 'Ruto Must Go' incitement

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has been summoned to Kiambu Police Station over alleged incitement of crowds during President William Ruto’s Mt Kenya tour on Friday.

The MP allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, perceived to be the reason behind President Ruto’s hostile reception in the region, is being accused of negative mobilisation of residents, resulting in people chanting 'Ruto must go' during his Friday visit to the Kiambu region.

Wamuchomba is said to have held a parallel meeting on Friday, which the authorities say resulted in demonstrations and anti-Ruto chants.

Taking to her official social media pages, the outspoken lawmaker, who has been a sharp critic of the current government, confirmed that the summons was made through a call by the Kiambu CCIO.

"The CCIO Kiambu has through a telephone called and sermoned me; because the great people of Githunguri refused to be lured by fake promises and projects that never materialised. Arrests you can do, but that will not change the facts! No more lies! You promised, deliver!" she wrote on X.
