Police station submerged as floods rock Wajir
Buna Police Station in Buna Sub-county was affected by the raging floods, which damaged the armoury, files and personal effects.
The entire police station compound was hit by the floods, with water levels rising as high as two metres.
Police vehicles parked in the station could also be submerged in the floods amid the ongoing heavy rains across the country.
Details of the amount of damage caused by the floods are yet to be quantified.
Wajir County is among a host of other regions in the country experiencing flooding due to El Nino rains.
The coastal region has particularly been affected, with more than 10 people reported dead from the floods.
Images and videos circulating online showed parts of Mombasa County completely submerged amid heavy downpour.
According to Dr. Michael Ayabei, the Head of Disaster Management at the Kenya Red Cross, 58,132 people have so far been affected by the floods.
Out of this, at least 24,928 more have been displaced, and unfortunately, these figures seem to be growing by the day as the rains keep pouring.
The country has experienced heavy rains since the beginning of November. The met department had issued an El Nino alert before downplaying it, but it now warns that the rains could extend to the new year.
