Police in Kijabe are searching for a gang of three robbery suspects who attacked a motorist last night at a bridge along Old Kijabe Road.
The gang, armed with machetes and a pipe wrench, used a log to block the bridge and ambushed the victim just before 11pm.
They stole Sh70,000, a Samsung Galaxy S22, and several credit cards after threatening the victim's life and forcing him to reveal his Mpesa PIN.
"Amidst death threats, the victim cooperated by surrendering all the valuables he had, including revealing his Mpesa pin where the thugs transferred Ksh.70,000," police said.
The victim managed to escape when the gang was distracted by an approaching vehicle and ran to nearby Rift Valley Academy, where security alerted the Kijabe OCS.
Police escorted the victim back to his car, but a search for the suspects in nearby thickets yielded no results.
Detectives from Lari sub-county are now investigating the robbery
