Police recruit arrested after attacking, injuring his 'boss' at Kiganjo College

A police trainee at Kiganjo College in Nyeri County is behind bars after allegedly attacking his squad leader with a slasher, inflicting injuries on him.

The recruit, Imbenzi Paul is said to have committed the crime last week Friday, barely two months before the conclusion of his training.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Imbenzi had been allocated a cleaning duty within the facility’s compound but failed to obey his superior’s order resulting in an altercation.

He is then said to have reached for the weapon and hacked his boss on the head.

“Trouble started for the conscript identified as Imbenzi Paul, after he failed to collect litter as instructed by his squad leader, during last Friday’s morning fatigue,”  stated the DCI.

“A brief argument ensued before the suspect reached for the crucial course man’s implement used in clearing long grass and inflicted an injury on the squad leader’s head, in an incident that shocked the entire college.”

The suspect was thereafter dismissed from college and detained at Kiganjo Police Station where he is awaiting arraignment. The slasher used in the incident was kept as an exhibit.

The DCI further noted that the injured officer has since been treated at the college dispensary and discharged.
