Police officers among three arrested over attempted robbery in Githurai

Authorities in Githurai have arrested three suspects, including two police officers, for their involvement in an attempted robbery with violence along the Githurai-Soweto railway line.

The suspects - Kelvin Chomba, alongside police officers Fredrick Githinji Waithera and Edward Chege Mwangi - were caught in the act on the night of February 17, 2025.

While on routine patrol, officers stumbled upon the trio assaulting a man and attempting to rob him of his valuables.

Acting swiftly, the patrol team intervened, apprehending the suspects and escorting them to Githurai Police Post.

The three are currently undergoing processing and will be arraigned in court tomorrow.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a stern warning against criminal collusion, emphasizing that both civilians and law enforcement officers engaging in such acts will face the full force of the law.
