A police officer stationed at Makongeni Police Station in Nairobi was rescued from an angry mob’s wrath after he knocked down a pedestrian on Lusaka Road on Friday evening.

According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, the incident unfolded when the officer, driving an Isuzu NQR Canter, was heading towards City Stadium at 6:45 pm.

Upon reaching Lusaka Road, he hit a male pedestrian who died on the spot. The officer was confronted by rowdy boda boda riders and members of the public who bayed for his blood.

The mob stoned his vehicle and set it on fire, destroying the front cabin seat and left passenger door.

During the confrontation, a police patrol team that was in the area rushed to the scene and rescued the officer.

The officer sustained injuries on the right hand elbow and multiple injuries on his back. He was rushed to Huruma Nursing Home to receive medical treatment.

The patrol team, accompanied by traffic personnel, managed to restore calm in the area and documented the scene.
