Police officer killed, three others injured in Baringo bandit attack

A police officer has been confirmed dead and three others injured in a bandit attack at Kapkechir Ridge in Marigat, Baringo County.

In the Friday noon incident, the armed bandits who police suspect to be from the Pokot community ambushed the officers on patrol and opened fire.

According to a police report, one officer sustained knee and hand injuries and is currently admitted at the Mediheal Hospital in Nakuru in stable condition.

His two colleagues sustained bruises and were treated at the Kinamba Mission Hospital and discharged.

Police added that a G3 rifle belonging to the deceased, alongside 60 rounds of ammunition, body armor and a ballistic helmet were stolen by the bandits during the attack.
