Police officer injured during Azimio protests in Kisumu dies in hospital

A police officer
has succumbed to injuries he sustained during anti-government protests that
took place in Kisumu County’s Juakali area on Thursday.
Corporal Ben
Oduor, who was stationed at Keroka Police Station in Nyamira County, was
keeping the peace around Jamia Supermarket area when he was overwhelmed by
protesters who viciously descended upon him with kicks and blows.
Confirming the
incident, Kisumu County Police Commander Alphonse Wambua told Citizen Digital
that the injured officer was rushed to the Aga Khan Hospital’s Intensive
Care Unit at around 10pm but he unfortunately passed away while receiving
treatment.
The deceased’s
body is currently lying at the institution’s morgue pending post-mortem.
