Police nab over 1,000 crates of illicit brew in shop disguised as milk cooling plant in Embu
Embu
County Commissioner Jack Obour, together with the County Police Commander
Nicholas Maina on Tuesday night led a successful operation in the Kianjokoma
market of Runyenjes Embu county following a tip-off from vigilant members of
the public.
Their
joint efforts resulted in the arrest of a suspect after officers broke into a shop disguised as an agrovet and milk cooling plant, only to find
thousands of crates of suspected illicit brew packaged and ready for
distribution.
Over
1,400 crates of suspected illicit brew were seized during the operation and
transported to Itabua Police Station for further investigation by a
multi-agency team, including the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the National
Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
Commissioner
Obour praised the progress made in combating illicit substances within Embu
County, attributing it to the collaborative efforts of the locals and authorities.
