Police mount roadblock on Kisumu State Lodge entry
On Wednesday morning, motorists and pedestrians were not allowed past a police barrier mounted opposite former Nyanza provincial headquarters.
Many road users were caught unaware of the deployment and forced to use alternative routes to their destinations.
Nyanza Regional Police Boss Karanja Muiruri has confirmed the deployment, saying it's a normal police protection and vigilance around government installations like the Kisumu State Lodge.
Karanja says similar police check and roadblock has been mounted around the Kisii State Lodge.
Reports however indicate that the police action has been triggered by the lapse of the 14-day notice issued by Azimio leader Raila Odinga following ultimatums given to the President William Ruto’s administration.
In the political rallies by the Azimio brigade, there have been public pronouncements regarding removing from office the 'illegitimate' Kenya Kwanza government and also a march to State House.
