Police in Homa Bay
County have launched investigations into a robbery incident where unknown
criminals broke into the Oyugis Law Courts registry and stole computers.
According to a
police report, the court administrator Isaac Owuor Ochola left his work station
on Thursday evening with all offices locked.
During that time,
three guards were at the court premises; however, when he reported back to work
the following morning, he noticed that a desktop had been left on the court
corridors.
He later went into
other offices and discovered that someone had forcefully gained access to them
and made way with a desktop and monitor at a registry.
He also noted that
other offices including the criminal registry as well as the cash office had
their monitors missing.
Homa Bay County
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Commander Abed Kavoo said police
officers had since visited the scene and launched a probe.
Kavoo said they have
established that the criminals got access to the court premises by cutting a
barbed wire on the rear side of the building.
The value of the
stolen items is estimated to be around Ksh.300,000.
The DCI boss said
the three security guards who were on duty at the time of the incident have
been detained assisting police with investigation.
