Police hunting gang that attacks, rapes, kills grannies in Kiambu

Police in Lari area of Kiambu County are investigating the
mysterious murders of elderly women in the area.
On Wednesday this week, a 76-year-old woman was beheaded in
the dead of the night before her head was wrapped in a polythene paper and
dumped inside a pit latrine.
According to preliminary investigations, the gang attacks,
rapes and kills elderly women without stealing any valuables.
The lifeless body of 76-year-old Leah Mwihaki was discovered
inside her house on Friday with her head found dumped in a pit latrine of a
house under construction, wrapped in a polythene bag.
CCIO Eunice Maingi said: “We managed to recover a head which
had been chopped and dumped in a construction site.”
The gruesome murder, which occurred on Wednesday this week,
comes after shocking reports of a gang targeting elderly women and widows in
the area.
“Unakuta hawa wamama wanauawa, na hawaibi chochote, ni
kuwasumbua tu,” one area resident told Citizen Digital.
Francis Kamotho, another resident, stated: “Wamama wakongwe
sasa tunawaombea Mungu awasaidie, juu hawa vijana wanataka kuwamaliza.”
“Hatujui kama ni pesa za wazee wanataka…wanauwa mtu kwa kukata
tu kichwa kama bull.”
The residents are demanding that the perpetrators are
apprehended immediately and that police officers increase night patrols.
One suspect connected to the heinous murder has been arrested
and assisting the police with investigations as the hunt for the gang
intensifies.
