As Kenyans wait for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to name the fifth President of Kenya, residents of Nairobi have seemingly kept away from the Central Business District (CBD).

A spotcheck conducted on Monday afternoon showed isolated streets and closed businesses around the country’s capital, with only security officers manning major streets.

Even though no reports of tension and security breaches have been reported, multi-agency bodies across the country remain vigilant with security in major towns beefed up.

Netizens likewise continue to express their anxiety with all eyes set on IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati to make the much anticipated declaration almost a week since the country went to the ballot.

IEBC had earlier noted that the vote tally has been completed and that President Uhuru Kenyatta's successor may be named anytime soon.
